The market of Inca is a clear example of this due to its rich commercial history, caused by the passage of different cultures that conquered the island in ancient times and left an indelible mark on the streets of its historic centre.
The town of Inca, in the heart of the island, is famous for its leather goods and shoe manufacturing. Moreover, its old quarter is home to shops and traditional bakeries and ovens where you can buy all kinds of typical Mallorcan products: meat pies, cocarrois or the sweet ensaïmadas.
Its local gastronomic culture is renowned throughout the island not only for its oil biscuits (salted), but also for its nougat production, the legendary sobrassada or the delicious puff pastry doblegats (folded pastry).
The Thursday market is famous among the locals, but Dijous Bo (Good Thursday) is undoubtedly the annual event that fills Inca with life and colour. The city centre is flooded with traditions, culture and typical Mallorcan handicrafts. We will stroll through the most authentic corners of Inca and enter the bustling streets to discover and get to know the important shoe and leather industry that is the hallmark of this legendary city.
